Thanks in part to the advancements brought about by Project Treble, and other changes and updates towards streamlining the Android update process, smartphone OEMs have been able to get onto the latest Android version much quicker than ever before. Google announced stable Android 10 for supported Pixel devices and the Essential phone just two days ago. After that, we saw Xiaomi release a stable Android 10 update with MIUI 10 on top for the Redmi K20 Pro, and OnePlus release OxygenOS Open Beta 1 for the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro. Even Samsung is testing Android 10 with One UI 2.0 on the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Note 10. To add to the update frenzy, OnePlus has announced that the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T will receive an Android 10 update this month and released a preparatory Open Beta build for this purpose.

OnePlus mentions that the released Open Beta build is meant to prepare your devices for the Android 10 update, which “will be released later this month“. Since we are just in the first week of this month, this could entail waiting for a fair bit of time for trying out the newest Android update. Also, note that the update will very likely first appear in the Open Beta channels, wherein it will be tried and tested out by more adventurous users before it makes its way to the stable release. OnePlus has added in long-requested features in the Open Beta 1 for the OnePlus 7 Pro, so we could see some other surprises make their way to the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T too. Android 10 brings over Google’s fullscreen navigation gesture, system-wide dark mode, revamped permissions and more.
