Despite Huawei’s current situation with US sanctions, the Huawei P30 Pro is definitely one of this year’s highlights in the greater smartphone ecosystem and the global market. With a class-leading quad rear camera setup as well as a powerful spec sheet, feature set, display, and build, it is very easily one of the best phones of 2019. While the company is currently preparing to launch the Huawei Mate 30 line, which is expected to not come with Google apps and services due to the aforementioned sanctions, Huawei is also doing a bit of a refresh to their current flagship, which now comes in new color options: Mystic Blue and Misty Lavender.
Both color options are characterized for having dual-tone finishes similar to what we’ve seen in the Google Pixel line: the top half, the part that surrounds the rear camera module, is glossy, while the bottom half has a matte finish. This is a departure from other color options, which used glossy glass with eye-catching gradients and patterns.
This is not the only difference included in these color variants. Both color options are launching with EMUI 10, based on Android 10, out-of-the-box, instead of the EMUI 9 builds that come with the stock Huawei P30 Pro. Stable Android 10 has not rolled out yet to Huawei devices, so this comes as a bit of a surprise. They also come with Google apps and services, unlike the upcoming Mate 30 line. It’s also not clear whether all P30 Pro units sold from now onwards will come with Android 10 or if it will be exclusive to these new color variants, but it does mean that an OTA update will be coming, probably sooner than later.
Both color variants will be available starting on September 20th in global markets, so if you were thinking about grabbing one and these color variants convince you more, then go right ahead and get yours!
