[Update 2: More Renders] Motorola One Zoom quad camera phone may have mid-range specs and might not run Android One

Update 2 (8/26/19 @ 10:35 AM ET): More renders of the Motorola One Zoom have been revealed, showing off three colors.

Update 1 (8/15/19 @ 10:30 AM ET): It looks like the Motorola One Zoom may have an Android One variant called the Motorola One Pro.

The last time we talked about the leaked Motorola phone with a quad-camera setup it was being called the “Motorola One Pro.” New information suggests this device will actually be known as the Motorola One Zoom. Despite its name, though, this phone might not be in the Android One program.

The name is not the only thing that has changed since the last leak. In fact, the whole complexion of this device is different. The “Pro” moniker and quad-cameras led many to believe this would be a flagship phone with specifications like the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 and 6GB of RAM. However, it turns out the Motorola One Zoom is another phone in the growing “premium mid-range” segment. The quad-cameras are impressive, but the other specs are firmly mid-range.

This new information about the Motorola One Zoom comes from Roland Quandt, a tech journalist from WinFuture and a notable leaker with a solid track record. As previous information indicated, the phone will indeed have a 48MP camera in the quad-camera array. The other specs include the Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 SoC, 4GB of RAM, 128GB of UFS storage, a microSD card slot, light-up Moto logo, Amazon Alexa integration, and it will not run Android One. He also says the price will be 399 euros ($445).

We still don’t know exactly what all the cameras will be for, but a device in this price range with four cameras is interesting. It may not be as cheap as some would like, however, with the Snapdragon 675. The images show that the Motorola One Zoom will be available in black and purple color options as well. What are your thoughts on this upcoming Motorola phone?

Update 1: Motorola One Pro variant

The Motorola One Zoom and One Pro names have been bouncing around a lot lately. The device was originally thought to be the One Pro, but then we heard it would be called the One Zoom. Turns out both could be true. The One Zoom looks to be a model with Amazon Alexa integration and other Amazon services pre-installed, whereas the One Pro is a part of the Android One program. The specifications of the Motorola One Pro are the same as the One Zoom. It’s unclear which models will be headed to which countries, or if either one will come to the U.S.

Update 2: More Renders

More renders of the Motorola One Zoom have been revealed, thanks to Ishan Agarwal. These renders show off the phone in three colors: Brown, Black, and Purple. We can also see Amazon Alexa integration as well as loads of other Amazon apps pre-installed, as mentioned in the previous update. Lastly, the One Zoom will have Motorola’s “TurboPower” fast charging technology.
