In the past few months, Samsung has released several devices aimed at price-conscious consumers in India. To strengthen its portfolio against the reigning leader of the Indian smartphone market – Xiaomi, Samsung has announced the Galaxy M10, Galaxy M20, and the Galaxy M30, exclusive to India. Besides these, Samsung has also been pulling the wraps off a bunch of Galaxy A series of smartphones and after Galaxy A10, Galaxy A30, and the Galaxy A50, Samsung Galaxy A20 has been announced in India for a price of ₹12,490 (~$180).
A couple of weeks before India, Samsung launched the Galaxy A20 in Russia. The smartphone comes with a large 6.4-inch Infinity-V Super AMOLED display with an HD+ resolution. Aimed primarily at the Gen-Z, the Galaxy A20 is equipped with a 4000mAh battery and supports 15W charging (or Fast Charging, as Samsung is calling it) via the USB-C port. For performance, the Galaxy A20 uses an Exynos 7884 chipset along with 3GB of RAM. Further, it comes with 32GB of inbuilt storage which can be expanded up to 512GB using a microSD card.
On the back, the Samsung Galaxy A20 features a dual camera setup comprising a 13MP primary sensor with f/1.9 aperture and a 5MP secondary sensor and f/2.2 aperture. Samsung touts that the rear camera can be used to click ultra-wide pictures and videos but hasn’t shared the exact details about this functionality. On the front, lies an 8MP selfie camera with an f/2.0 aperture.
Apart from these features, the Galaxy A20 will run Samsung’s latest One UI based on Android 9 Pie. It will be available in red, blue, and black colors starting April 8 via Samsung’s e-Store, noted e-commerce sites in India such as Flipkart, Amazon, Paytm Mall, and a host of retail stores. The Galaxy A20 is priced very close to sibling Galaxy M20 (4GB RAM) which features a Full HD+ Infinity-V LCD display, a slightly more powerful processor, and one extra gigabyte of RAM.
Meanwhile, all eyes are set at the Samsung Galaxy A90, which is tipped to be Samsung’s first smartphone with a notch-less display and expected to arrive on April 10th.
