Nokia 2 V appears online as a re-branded Nokia 2.1

HMD Global is the exclusive producer of Nokia-branded smartphones, and the company doesn’t slow down. The Nokia 2 V has appeared online, and it appears to just be a re-branded Nokia 2.1. The Nokia 2.1 was launched back in May of last year, and the Nokia 2 V was first rumored by leaker Evan Blass to be launching on Verizon in the US.

Nokia 2 V

The Nokia 2.1 is your typical low-end budget smartphone, featuring a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 and 1GB of RAM. It runs Android Oreo (Android Go Edition), Google’s version of Android with reduced system requirements. There are a huge number of optimizations under the hood that Android Oreo (Go Edition) uses. The Nokia 2.1 launched at the low price of $115, so it shouldn’t be much more expensive if launched through Verizon. You can check out the full device specifications below.

Given that we are seeing the device appear online, it could launch sooner rather than later. It’s a cheap smartphone that’ll get the job done, but you certainly won’t be playing games on it or doing any other kind of heavy processing. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 features an Adreno 308 GPU, which isn’t exactly the most powerful.

The Nokia 2 V is still not confirmed to be coming to Verizon, but it is likely at this point. If you’d like to check out the XDA forums for the Nokia 2.1, you can click the link down below. They do appear to be, more or less, the exact same device.
