Owners of OnePlus devices from 2018 and 2017 are currently receiving a new open beta updated rolled out to their device. This includes the OnePlus 5, OnePlus 5T, OnePlus 6, and OnePlus 6T. If you own any of these devices and are currently using the company’s open beta program, then a new update will be adding a number of new features. This includes things such as quick reply support for landscape mode, various optimizations for when you need to take a screenshot, and more.
It’s unclear if all four of these devices will be receiving the same features in future open beta updates but the ones that were recently announced are close to the same. If you own the OnePlus 5 then you will get these new features in Open Beta update #26 and if you own the OnePlus 5T then they will come in Open Beta update #25. We aren’t told which optimizations or enhancements are being made to the screenshot function and Gaming Mode, but things should be improved.
System
- Optimizations for the screenshot function
- Support for quick reply in landscape mode, now easier to reply to new messages when watching videos
- Gaming mode enhancement
While not mentioned in the forum thread linked below, those who own the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T are also receiving a new open beta update as well. Current OnePlus 6 owners will be updated to Open Beta #12 while OnePlus 6T owners will see these changes featured in Open Beta #4. This update also adds the OnePlus Laboratory feature as well.
System
- Optimizations for the screenshot function
- Added OnePlus Laboratory
- Support for quick reply in landscape mode, now easier to reply to new messages when watching videos
- Gaming mode enhancement
In usual beta testing fashion, you should remember that these updates are not to be considered stable and there could still be some hiccups that need to be fixed. If you spot something that is out of place then OnePlus recommends you submit a bug report via the Community app. It’s even more helpful if you can get a recording of the bug (using the Community app) right as it happens.
