Some would say the smartwatch market isn’t as healthy as it once was, but there are some companies out there which have risen above the others and have gained quite a reputation. Amazfit is one of these companies and is owned by Huami, the exclusive provider of wearable technology for Xiaomi. They have a number of affordable smartwatches and XDA Senior Member anox recently released an application for the Pace, Stratos, and Verge smartwatches.
The application is called PaceUp and it is a pressure (barometric) altimeter for these three Amazfit wearables. The application uses the hardware in these devices to determine the altitude based on the pressure with some calibration. The calibration method used here is the currently known altitude, pressure, and temperature of a near reference point. While it is impossible to figure out the altitude based on air pressure alone, the developer says “PaceUp can give pretty good altitude reading when calibrated with good local reference values.”
