The Honor 8X was launched internationally two months ago, bringing some more choice to consumers looking to purchase a capable smartphone in the early mid-range. With a 6.5″ LCD display, a HiSilicon Kirin 710 SoC, 4GB/6GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of internal storage with expandability through a triple card slot, the Honor 8X entered into a rather oversaturated market, hoping to carve its own share of the pie.
The device has been received well in the Indian market, especially amongst average consumers who are looking for a flashy device that also performs well. The 20MP, f/1.8 aperture primary rear camera along with the 2MP secondary rear camera work out well for most consumers in the intended price range, and the 16MP, f/2.0 front camera is capable enough for all of their selfie needs. The end result is that the Honor 8X has an all-round package that is indeed catching the attention of the market.
As the competition is launching newer devices in this segment, Huawei is launching a new color variant in an attempt to keep itself in the spotlight. The Honor 8X is now available in Red through Amazon India, for a price tag of ₹14,999 (~$215), placing it in between the two RAM variants of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro in the Indian market.
The Red color variant is only available in 4GB RAM plus 64GB storage configuration for now, which makes it costlier than the Redmi Note 6 Pro for the same RAM and storage configuration. The Honor 8X does have a larger display and a more attractive design, so the small difference in price may feel justified in the eyes of the average consumer.
