Samsung’s smartwatches are some of the best meant-for-Android wearables out there. They have great software, great battery life, and amazing designs. Samsung hopped aboard the sports watch trend with the Samsung Gear Sport and later with the Galaxy Watch Active. Now, Samsung is following up with the Galaxy Watch Active 2, and it has more health features, smaller bezels, a touch bezel, and an LTE variant.
The new Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 is a small yet meaningful upgrade over the 6-month-old Galaxy Watch Active. While these devices have similar display sizes and similar internals, they are very different. The Galaxy Watch Active 2 comes in 2 sizes: 40mm body with a 1.2-inch display and 44mm with a 1.4-inch display.

The Galaxy Watch Active 2 also gets a whole new set of health tracking features. As previously rumored, the watch has a new ECG sensor. The ECG tracks the electrical activity generated by the heart as it contracts. It will know if your heart is having any issues and give you a warning. The ECG tracking will not be available until it gets FDA approval, most likely in early 2020. Besides these two new features, it keeps blood pressure, heart rate, stress, and blood oxygen tracking.
The Galaxy Watch Active 2 isn’t just a device meant for keeping your heart healthy, but also your body. The Watch Active 2 has the same activity tracking features as the Galaxy Watch Active. It can track around 15 different activities automatically, including swimming, which came to the Galaxy Watch Active with an update.
One really cool new feature Samsung brought to the Galaxy Watch Active 2 is the touch bezel. In essentially every round Samsung watch before the Galaxy Watch Active, there was a physical rotating bezel to control the UI. With the Galaxy Watch Active 2, it’s back with a new twist. Samsung is using the outside bezel of the watch as the rotating bezel of sorts. You’ll be able to move your finger around the outside of the watch to switch between pages or control parts of the watch.
