[Update: New 64GB model] The 6GB RAM variant of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro will finally go on sale on April 10 in India

Update (7/2/19 @ 9:08 AM ET): The Redmi Note 7 Pro will be available in a 6GB of RAM + 64GB of storage model.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro is one of the best lower mid-range phones on the market. Sadly, the phone is available only in China and India, while the Chinese Redmi Note 7 is available in most of Xiaomi’s international markets. The Redmi Note 7 Pro has an incredibly aggressive blend of specifications and pricing, as its list of specifications includes the Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 SoC with Adreno 612 GPU, 4GB/6GB of RAM with 64GB/128GB storage, 6.3-inch Full HD+ (2340×1080) IPS LCD, 48MP primary rear camera, 5MP depth sensor, 13MP front camera, and a 4,000mAh battery with support for fast charging. The 4GB RAM/64GB storage variant is available for ₹13,999 ($202) in India, while the 6GB RAM/128GB storage variant has a price tag of ₹16,999 ($245).

The 4GB RAM/64GB storage variant of the Redmi Note 7 Pro went on sale in India starting March 13, but the 6GB RAM/128GB storage variant of the phone still hasn’t gone on sale yet, even though more than a month has passed since the phone’s announcement. This will finally change tomorrow as Xiaomi has announced that the 6GB RAM/128GB storage variant of the Redmi Note 7 Pro will go on sale on April 10 at 12PM via Flipkart, and Mi.com. It will be available starting April 17 via Xiaomi’s Mi Home offline stores. Currently, the Note 7 Pro is being sold via weekly flash sales online, and availability of the 4GB RAM variant has been limited so far. Therefore, it’s fair to expect the 6GB RAM variant to also go out of stock extremely quickly.

I reviewed the 4GB RAM/64GB storage variant of the Redmi Note 7 Pro and found it to be a great hardware package on a budget. The phone’s list of positives includes a good design, excellent display, class-leading CPU and system performance, great rear camera quality with the 48MP primary camera, superb battery life, and a fantastic value proposition. On the other hand, its negatives include poor RAM management that lets down real-world UI performance (at least in the current software), and an increasingly intrusive software experience with MIUI 10. Overall, it’s clear to see that its list of positives outweighs its list of negatives.

The Redmi Note 7 Pro originally launched with two RAM/storage options: 4GB RAM/64GB for ₹13,999 ($202) and 6GB RAM/128GB for ₹16,999 ($245). Tomorrow, the phone will be available in a third option of 6GB of RAM + 64GB of storage. This is a sweet spot for those who care more about RAM than local storage. This new variant will cost ₹15,999 ($232) and be available from mi.com and Flipkart.
