Unaffected by the ban imposed by the earlier U.S. government, Huawei recently launched the Huawei Nova 5 series with the Huawei MediaPad M6 which is equipped with premium specs and comes in two different sizes. With the U.S. government easing restrictions on Huawei, the company is back to its business of launching new devices. In India, Huawei is launching a more affordable tablet – the MediaPad T5 – as an entertainment device. The tablet comes with a 10.1-inch display, dual stereo speakers, a long-lasting battery, and a striking metal design.
To begin with, the 10.1-inch display on the Huawei MediaPad T5 sports a resolution of 1920 x 1200. There are noticeable bezels around all four edges of the screen, resulting in a screen-to-body ratio of 76.4%. Due to its large size and the primary objective of media consumption, most of the users are likely to use the tablet in landscape mode and to complement this, it features dual stereo speakers for a balanced sound output.
Under the hood, the MediaPad T5 is powered by a HiSilicon Kirin 659 processor with options between 2GB and 3GB of RAM. In terms of storage, Huawei offers options between 16GB and 32GB along with the option to expand storage to up to 256GB via a microSD card. The tablet features a 5,100mAh battery.
In terms of software, the MediaPad T5 runs EMUI 8.0 which is based on Android 8.0 Oreo. The tablet also gets a dedicated Children’s Corner where you can separate out apps for the kids while locking away the rest. The feature also reminds children to maintain a proper posture while using the device and features a usage timer so that kids don’t overuse the tablet.
The 2GB/16GB variant of the Huawei MediaPad T5 will be sold for ₹14,999 (~$220) while the 3GB/32GB variant comes for ₹16,999 (~$250). For early birds, Huawei is offering a complimentary bundle worth ₹2,999 including a flip cover and Huawei earphones.
The tablet is currently up for pre-order via Amazon India and will be available starting July 10th.
