Just yesterday, Samsung that the Galaxy Unpacked launch event for the Galaxy Note 10 will take place on August 7th. During Galaxy Unpacked, Samsung typically launches more than just their flagship smartphones. Sometimes there are also new accessories, tablets, or smartwatches. Earlier today, a new 15W wireless charger stopped by the FCC, and it could launch alongside the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.
According to a recently disclosed FCC filing, Samsung is testing a new 15W wireless charger with model number EP-N5200. Current Samsung wireless chargers are also 15W, for what it’s worth.
We discovered that Samsung is testing this wireless charger on what’s most likely the U.S. unlocked Galaxy Note 10+ (SM-N975U) and Verizon Galaxy Note 10+ 5G (SM-N976V). This means that the device should support at a minimum 15W fast wireless charging. This is the same as the Samsung Galaxy S10, Samsung Galaxy Note 9, and Samsung Galaxy S9, so the wireless charging technology hasn’t drastically changed since then.
Devices must undergo FCC certification before they can reach the market, so this information is likely to be accurate, but it might not tell the whole story. We don’t know the design of the new wireless charger, but it’s likely to be similar to the Samsung EP-N5100. We also don’t know if the accessory will have any other tricks up its sleeve. While the wireless charging might not be getting a speed upgrade, Samsung is rumored to couple a 25W wired charger in the box of the Galaxy Note 10.
We are excited to learn more details about the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 series and the accessories that will launch with it. We’ve already seen renders and live images of the regular model and the higher-end model respectively, but as we approach the launch date we’re bound to get more information. We will, of course, be at Samsung Unpacked to give you guys a hands-on with everything new Samsung announces.
