Realme is OPPO’s spin-off brand focussed on fulfilling the expectation of young smartphone users. In India, it has been doing really well because of smartphones like the Realme 3 and the Realme 3 Pro which offer great value for the price. Besides the convincing value for money, Realme’s commitment to updating its smartphone regularly is what is keeping its user base engaged. Earlier this week, the Realme 2 Pro got an update to ColorOS 6 which is based on Android 9 Pie. Now, the Realme 1 and the Realme U1 are getting a taste of Pie with the latest Color 6 beta.
One of the key features the ColorOS 6 update brings to the two Realme devices is an app drawer in the ColorOS launcher. Apart from that, the navigation gestures in ColorOS have been improved while a Riding mode has been added, which can be used to dismiss callers and alert callers when you’re riding a two-wheeler. Further, the notification panel has a new interface while the Realme U1 and the Realme 1 now have better default themes.
In terms of camera, the two Realme devices are getting Nightscape mode – Realme’s take on Google’s Night Sight – and Camera HAL3 support, which is essential for Camera2 API support. This means that in the near future, users will be able to make use of Google Camera mods on their Realme 1 and Realme U1 without needing to root their smartphones.
Besides these changes, the update brings the Google security patch from May 2019 and as well as Theme Store support for the Realme U1. In the future, the smartphones should also receive HyperBoost which intelligently boost the performance of the smartphone while gaming without devouring the battery.
We can also expect the Realme 2 and the Realme C1 to get Android Pie updates this month, as promised by Realme earlier.
