OnePlus hit the ground running with the launch of the OnePlus 7 Pro. It easily outshined its little brother, the OnePlus 7, and made a lot of positive headlines thanks to the hardware it offered and its competitive pricing. The company sent out review units to various Android news outlets and the momentum continued with positive reviews from many top publishers within the community. Since launch, the developers of OxygenOS have pushed out a few new updates to address common issues users have been experiencing. The latest update for the OnePlus 7 Pro brings the phone to version 9.5.8 of OxygenOS and it includes May’s security patches, additional touch sensitivity optimization, and more.
I say additional touch sensitivity optimization because OnePlus has been working on this a lot in their recent updates for the OnePlus 7 Pro. While we even gave it the crown for the best smartphone in 2019 (so far) in our review, some people have noticed odd touch screen issues. We covered the ghost touch issues that have been widely reported and that could be why we’ve seen touch sensitivity optimizations included in multiple OxygenOS updates for the OnePlus 7 Pro since launch.
OxygenOS 9.5.8 Changelog
- System
- Optimized touch sensitivity for the screen
- Optimized compatibility for third-party Type-C headphones
- Updated Android security patch to 2019.05
- General bug fixes and improvements
- Phone
- Improved audio quality
- Camera
- Fixed issue with the pop-up camera opening for an incoming video call while the screen is off or locked
Those who currently own the OnePlus 7 Pro can look forward to a new OTA update that will bring their device up to OxygenOS version 9.5.8. In this update, we see some improvements to audio quality during a phone call and a camera bug has been fixed that would open the camera for an incoming video call even when the screen was off or the device was locked. We see a handful of optimizations has also been included in this OOS update with improved compatibility of 3rd-party USB Type-C headphones.
