Realme, a young brand which branched out of OPPO, has been faring well in emerging smartphone markets of Southeast Asia, especially India. In the last one year since its inception on National Youth Day of China (May 4), the brand has attracted a lot of young users with devices that offer great performance for a budget. It’s the latest smartphone – Realme 3 Pro promises the impression of an entry-level flagship at an affordable price and now, the company is set to elevate this experience even further with better specs, and a more premium feel on its next smartphone.
Recently, two Realme devices with model numbers RMX1851 and RMX1901 were listed by China’s smartphone certification body TENAA, hinting that these two will launch in the country soon. While RMX1851 is the Realme 3 Pro that was launched earlier this week, RMX1901 appears to be a new device from the company.
According to the specifications revealed by the TENAA certification, this new smartphone will feature a 6.5-inch display. There’s barely any notch visible on the images, suggesting that this Realme device might use a notchless display. In terms of the design, this smartphone features a curved shiny back with dual AI cameras and a branding along the central axis. The only other bit of information we have about the smartphone is that it will have a 3680mAH battery.
Notably, there is no physical fingerprint scanner visible on the smartphone, so it could be using an in-display sensor. Believing the Realme RMX1901 actually features an in-display fingerprint scanner, the technology behind the display is expected to be OLED or AMOLED since there are no viable LCD solutions with such in-display scanners yet.
At this point, it is difficult to say if Realme is using any mechanical parts like a pop-up slider to hide the selfie camera. But it wouldn’t be surprising if it borrows the wedge-shaped pop-up camera from the Reno series recently launched by parent brand OPPO. Additionally, the company may be working on another model – RMX 1951 – which is expected to launch alongside RMX 1901 in China mid-May.

Realme took to Weibo to confirm that the Realme X will be launched in Beijing, China on May 15. From what can be perceived by the social media update, the company will also be giving away 100 headphones (perhaps, Realme Buds) to users who share the update. This will be the first product announcement from the company which recently turned a year old after spinning off from OPPO.
We’ll keep you informed about the upcoming Realme X as we get to learn more about the smartphone.
