The Dish AirTV Mini is an upcoming 4K Android TV streaming stick

The market is in a state where streaming sticks, specific to Android, are springing up to the top from all around the world. There’s the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K, the Roku Streaming Stick+, and the latest is the unannounced AirTV Mini Streaming stick by Dish, which is expected to hit the markets in June this year.

A leaked photo of a slide from a Dish presentation reveals the upcoming device. The slide confirms that this is an Android TV device and it will have a UI similar to their AirTV Player set-top box. Manufactured by SEI Robotics, the Dish AirTV Mini is expected to have the latest SoC by Amlogic, the S905Y2. The full 4K Android TV player is all set to have VP9 4K encoding, making it one of the few Android streaming sticks on the market that let users watch their YouTube videos in 4K.

The dongle is paired with a standard looking remote that features a prominent Sling TV shortcut button. We can also see a Google Assistant button. The slide mentions that the remote can control the TV and even sound bars as well. Unlike the AirTV Player, this device does not have the Remote Finder feature or a USB port.

The forum member who posted the slide says the device is expected to retail at $79.99. The slide itself says the device is planned to be released in June. That’s not a bad price for a 4K Android TV device. Are you interested in the Dish AirTV Mini?
