The Android community is getting hyped about Google I/O 2019 this week, but others are looking forward to launches of new smartphones. OnePlus is slated to launch at least two new hardware products next week on May 14th. We’ve heard a lot about the Pro version of the OnePlus 7, but there hasn’t been as much information (or hype) around the regular variant. Today, we get our first look at the OnePlus 7 with some leaked press renders and some reaffirmations about the device’s hardware.
The regular OnePlus 7 will be for those who want to continue paying less for some of the highest specs available on the market today. Sure, you won’t be getting the 1440p display on the regular OnePlus 7, but it is capable of 90Hz like the Pro model. The display will be a bit smaller at 6.41 inches (likely due to the flat screen) and will not have a 12GB of RAM option to choose from (only 6GB and 8GB options here). Under the hood, it will have the same Snapdragon 855 SoC running the show, but what stands out from the Pro version is its looks.
WinFuture has obtained what they believe to be official press renders of the upcoming smartphone. Roland Quandt has a great reputation when it comes to leaks so we are inclined to believe these are legit. While the OnePlus 7 will look different than the OnePlus 7 Pro, it’s taking a lot of design aspects from the OnePlus 6T. The slider and power buttons seem closer together and the earpiece speaker grill is much longer. But other than that the non-Pro variant looks to be more of a spec bump of the OnePlus 6T than anything else.
Granted, there are still a lot of upgrades happening here in terms of hardware (such as UFS 3.0 storage) but if you weren’t a fan of how the OnePlus 6T looked then the OnePlus 7 will likely give you the same feelings.
