EE launches its 5G network in the UK with the OnePlus 7 Pro, Samsung Galaxy S10, LG V50 ThinQ, and OPPO Reno

If you’ve been following the tech scene you know that 5G is a big buzz word right now. The good news is it’s slowly moving past trendy marketing print and becoming a reality. In the UK, EE and Vodafone have been racing to launch their 5G networks. It looks like EE has won the race as they will be launching on May 30th with a handful of phones.

EE”s 5G network will launch in 6 major cities: London, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Belfast, Birmingham, and Manchester. 10 more cities will be added later this year. EE’s 5G speeds will be around 100 to 150Mbps. The phones that can take advantage of these speeds include the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G, Oppo Reno 5G, LG V50 ThinQ, and OnePlus 7 Pro 5G. One phone that is notably absent is the Huawei Mate 20 X 5G, which has been put on hold due to their current messy situation.

5G plans will start at £54 per month for 10GB of date and go all the way up to £74 per month for 120GB. SIM-only plans will start at £32 a month for 20GB of data. Customers will also be eligible for a few promotions. They can get access to the BT Sport HD app and Gamer’s Data Pass, which covers data used while playing select games. Customers can also use the Music Data Pass and Video Data Pass to cover streaming media data.

The four phones mentioned above are available for pre-order starting today. EE is also launching the HTC 5G Hub for 5G home broadband. The hub costs £100 up front and you can get 50GB of data for £50 or 100GB for £75. Do we have any UK readers who will be getting in on the 5G?
