JioGroupTalk helps Reliance Jio users easily start group conference calls

Reliance Jio shook up the Indian telecom industry when it was launched in September 2016. Within a span of about two and half years, Reliance Jio sits at number 3 in India with a subscriber base of 280 Million at the end of 2018. For reference, this is close to the combined subscriber base of  AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint in the USA. Reliance Jio also boasts of top-notch availability throughout India according to a recent survey, with about 99.3% of surveyed locations reporting coverage, and 98.8% locations reporting LTE coverage.

Reliance Jio has wide portfolio of apps on the Google Play Store, and it has now introduced another new app: JioGroupTalk. Jio Group Talk aims to provide One Touch Multi-Party calling exclusively for Jio users. The app features a simple user interface which allows Jio users to create and manage group conference calls for up to 10 members with minimal steps needed for setup. During the conference, you can add and remove participants, mute selective participants or even enter lecture more wherein all except one participant is muted. Participants in the conference call can be non-Jio users.

JioGroupTalk is currently in Beta trial phase. Although its Google Play Store page mentions that users need to email the contact mentioned to enroll and participate, Jio users have reported that the app simply works after an OTP verification. Currently, the Jio Group Talk app only allows for voice calling, but according to TelecomTalk, video calling and chatting features should be available soon. Do note that Jio users could already participate in conference calls without this application, but that required adding in numbers one-by-one while the call was active. This app aims to simplify the process and make these calls convenient.
