Like a few other smartphone OEMs, HTC has been struggling become the manufacturer they once were. After the deal with Google went down many predicted they would exit the smartphone industry and focus on VR, but the company says they aren’t giving up on smartphones. Their mainstream flagship smartphone is now referred to as the HTC U series, but the variants are for those in more affordable brackets. Earlier this year they released the HTC Desire 12 and the HTC Desire 12+ and now they have added a new smartphone to this series called the HTC Desire 12s.
The HTC Desire 12 and the Desire 12+ were meant to be another mid-range offering from the Taiwanese handset maker. The HTC Desire 12s is taking things down a notch further. Instead of opting for a dual rear-camera setup they are just using one and pairing it with an LED flash in the same module cutout. Both the front and rear of the device comes equipped with a 13MP sensor, but the rear camera specs include an f/2.2 aperture and PDAF while the front is f/2.4. We do see a rear-fingerprint sensor to keep the forehead and chin bezels slim and the HTC Desire 12s is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 SoC.

The HTC Desire 12s is currently available in Black, Silver, and Red color options with the 3GB/32GB variant costing NT$5990 (US$ 194) and the 4GB/64GB model setting you back NT$ 6990 (US$ 226)
