Gboard is rolling out new Light and Dark Gradient Themes

Gboard Gradient Themes

If you’re a fan of Google’s Gboard app (like me), then here’s a treat for you. The latest beta version of Google’s keyboard app, version 7.8.8, has added a bunch of new themes for you to play around with. The new themes are divided into two sections: Light gradient and Dark gradient. As their names imply, these themes are all gradients of various colors. There are 25 Light gradient themes and 29 Dark gradient themes to choose from.

The feature image shows what 4 of these themes look like. Our tipster confirmed the presence of these themes on their Google Pixel 3, and I was able to find these themes after updating Gboard on my Google Pixel 3 XL. Although I could not find these themes on my Huawei Mate 20 X, XDA Contributor Max Weinbach’s Huawei Mate 20 Pro had the themes enabled. Thus, I don’t believe these themes are limited to Google’s devices. I recommend you download the latest beta version from either the Google Play Store or APKMirror if you’re interested in trying them out.

We haven’t seen the hidden Sand theme go live yet, though if you have root access it’s possible to enable it manually. We’ll let you know if we find anything new in future updates of Google’s popular Android keyboard app.

Thanks to XDA Senior Member argraur for the tip!
