Discord has quickly become one of the most popular platforms for online conversation. It allows for the creation of “servers” that can hold different “channels” of conversations. Discord is especially popular in gaming communities, but it can be used for many other purposes. We even have an official XDA-Developers Discord server. Discord has an Android app and it’s getting an often-requested feature from the desktop.
Users can connect Discord to other services to display their activity in their status. For example, you can connect to Spotify and display what you are listening to. Since Discord is used a lot by gamers, it can also display the game you are currently playing. Now, the Android app is testing a feature that can detect the game you’re playing on your phone.
This is an experimental feature that users can enable. The feature requires usage access so it can detect your activity. So if you’re playing Pokemon GO, the app can detect the game is open and display it in your status. The feature can be accessed through the new “Games” tab on the Settings page.
The game detection feature is rolling out in version 7.9.9. You can opt-in to the beta from the Play Store page or download the 7.9.9 APK right here. If you want your friends to always know what you’re doing, this is a pretty cool addition to the mobile app.
