Huawei Mate 20 X is a 7.2-inch giant to take on the Samsung Galaxy Note 9

Huawei Mate 20 X

People say Android tablets are dead, but they’re just called “phones” nowadays. No device has embodied this more than the Huawei Mate 20 X. This phone has a gigantic 7.2-inch display. It’s taking on the Samsung Galaxy Note 9, but blowing it out of the water in terms of screen size alone.

Like the Huawei Mate 20 Pro, the Mate 20 X has a teardrop notch up front. We called the Mate 20 Pro a “beast,” but the Mate 20 X is truly a beastly device. It has a 5,000 mAh battery, Kirin 980 SoC, Graphene File & Vapor Chamber cooling system, 40MP Ultra-wide-angle Leica triple rear cameras, IP53 water and dust resistance, Huawei M-Pen stylus, and gamepad.

As the gamepad and cooling system suggest, Huawei is advertising the Mate 20 X as a “gaming phone.” That’s one area where a huge display comes in handy. Basically, Huawei took the Mate 20 Pro and blew it up to the size of a tablet. You might not want to carry this phone with you every day, but it will be great for those times when you want to do some serious gaming or media consumption.

Like the Mate 20 Pro, the Mate 20 X comes with Android Pie and EMUI 9. The device is set to launch in Europe on October 26th for 899 euros for 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The phone will have two color options: Midnight Blue and Phantom Silver. The M-Pen stylus and gaming pad will be sold separately.
