The OnePlus 7T Pro is here with a 90Hz QHD+ Display, Snapdragon 855+, and Warp Charge 30T

The OnePlus 7T Pro is here, and it re-uses a lot of what made the OnePlus 7 Pro great. It has the same all-screen bezel-less 90Hz QHD+ display, the latest flagship specifications, and the company’s new proprietary fast-charging standard dubbed Warp Charge 30T.

OnePlus 7T Pro: Design

The OnePlus 7T Pro employs the exact same hardware design as the OnePlus 7 Pro, with one small difference in where the device’s autofocus module on the back is placed. You still get the same all-screen, bezel-less curved edge display with a pop-up camera. It comes in at 6.67-inches, bigger than most phones, but it’s not so bad when you consider that there are no bezels adding on to the height of the phone.

The sides are made of aluminum, with a single downward-firing speaker at the bottom and a front-facing speaker at the top. Just like the OnePlus 7 Pro, there’s no headphone jack – nor is there a free dongle in the box. On the bottom is also the USB-C charging port, which supports the all-new Warp Charge 30T, which we’ll get into later on. The OnePlus 7T Pro looks and feels exactly like the OnePlus 7 Pro, and that’s because it more or less is.

OnePlus 7T Pro: Hardware

OnePlus prides themselves on the quality of the hardware in their smartphones, and the OnePlus 7 Pro is no different. It’s powered by the newer Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus, which comes with an overclocked CPU and GPU. The main differences are as follows:

  • The lone “Prime” CPU core has been clocked at up to 2.96GHz in the 855 Plus versus 2.84GHz in the standard 855. This ~3GHz core clock speed finally matches the configuration that ARM initially projected.
  • The Adreno 640 GPU in the 855 Plus offers a 15% performance increase over the Adreno 640 in the 855.

The OnePlus 7T Pro will only come with 8GB of RAM unless you get the McLaren edition which has 12GB. Both variants have 256GB of UFS 3.0 storage, which boasts a theoretical 2x improvement over UFS 2.1, which is still employed in certain flagships from competitors like the Samsung Galaxy S10+ is one such phone.

The 4,080 mAh battery can be charged up slightly faster, thanks to Warp Charge 30T. Warp Charge 30T still charges at 30W, but changes to the battery in the device mean that it can charge even faster. We’ll be running some tests over on XDA TV to demonstrate just how much faster it can get. Meanwhile, you can check out some of the tests that Mario ran on his OnePlus 7T that also boasts of Warp Charge 30T.

The in-display fingerprint sensor, meanwhile, is the exact same as on the OnePlus 7 Pro. It now has a white-colored animation when you touch it instead of green, but that’s about it.

OnePlus 7T Pro: Camera

The OnePlus 7T Pro yet again packs the same triple camera as what they launched earlier this year. The Sony IMX 586 features a custom-made lens with an aperture of f/1.6, OIS, EIS, and a pixel size of up to 1.6 μm.

OnePlus 7T Pro

Alongside that 48MP sensor is a telephoto lens with 3x (technically 2.87x lossless) optical zoom, OIS and EIS, and an aperture size of f/2.4. There’s also a 16MP ultra-wide 117° camera. It has an aperture size of f/2.2 and is useful for squeezing a lot of people or landscape into a single shot. The AutoFocus module has been shifted to a position beside the camera module, though we do not know the reason behind such change.

The OnePlus UltraShot Engine that debuted with the OnePlus 7 Pro is likely here as well, which supports HDR+ and Super Resolution, HDR+ basically being an evolution of HDR. Super Resolution is a lot more interesting, as it extracts the key information from multiple photos and combines them to make the best photograph possible. Nightscape is also much quicker too.

The OnePlus 7T Pro features a 16MP f/2.0 front-facing camera. It can be used for face unlock as well. It will automatically retract when the device is detected to be falling so that if you drop your phone it reduces the probability of damage to the sensor.
