Google has already released the source code for Android 10 and many of us are looking to OEMs to see when they will begin rolling out updates. We’ve actually seen a few companies already release their first Android 10 update while others look to be taking things a bit slower. Samsung has sold millions of Galaxy S10 series smartphones this year and it looks like a beta program for these customers is right around the corner. This looks to be starting in South Korea (naturally) but may make its way to other regions in the near future.

Now, we’ve known that Samsung has been testing an internal build of One UI 2.0 based on Android 10 for a few weeks now. It looks as if the company has been testing 11 builds of Android 10 for the Snapdragon and Exynos Galaxy S10 series phones as well as a single test build of Android 10 for the Exynos Galaxy Note 10. A video was recently leaked that claimed to be an early build of Samsung’s One UI 2.0 update. We haven’t been able to confirm the authenticity of said video (or the software on said video), but it’s clear that an update is coming soon.
Samsung has a history of testing new beta updates with customers in its home country of South Korea first so this announcement was something we’ve been waiting for. The company has announced the One UI 2.0 Beta with Android 10 is going to be available to Korean telecom subscribers and self-contained Zephyr users who own the Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+, and Galaxy S10e. These are very early beta builds too and we’re told that Samsung is working to improve their stability with subsequent updates.
This move is interesting as the company is still lagging behind the likes of Google, OnePlus, and Essential when it comes to Android 10 updates, but they are ahead of schedule compared to last year. With Android Pie, Samsung announced the first open beta in November of 2018 and it didn’t make it around the world until 2 months later. With this announcement happening in October, we may get the first widespread rollout of One UI 2.0 Beta for the Galaxy S10 series smartphones before the end of the year.
