Samsung Galaxy Fold launched in India for a price of ₹1,64,999 ($2,320)

The Samsung Galaxy Fold is Samsung’s first foldable smartphone, originally launched in February for a cool price tag of $1,980. But shortly after its launch, this innovative device encountered some issues in the hands of reviewers, which prompted Samsung to delay the launch of the device until it gets those issues sorted out. The “fixed” Samsung Galaxy Fold finally went on sale last week in the USA, and the initial reactions on the device are positive and optimistic, despite the inherently fragile nature of the phone. Now, Samsung has brought over the Samsung Galaxy Fold in India for a cool price of ₹1,64,999 ($2,320).

The Samsung Galaxy Fold is no ordinary smartphone, and Samsung India has accordingly marketed this product as a luxury device for users who prefer being on the bleeding edge of technology. The highlight of the Samsung Galaxy Fold is, of course, the fully foldable frame and display, allowing the phone to open up like a notebook to reveal a larger 7.3″ display and be shut down into a smaller form factor with a smaller 4.6″ display on the other side.

If you ignore the folding technology on the phone for a moment, Samsung has also ensured that the Galaxy Fold is an absolute powerhouse of a smartphone in its own right. The device comes with a flagship SoC, 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM, 512GB of UFS 3.0 storage and a total of six cameras to handle all the use cases in which users might need a camera. The Galaxy Fold also comes with Galaxy Buds in the box, along with an Aramid Fiber case for some protection to this fragile and premium piece of high-end technology.

Pricing and Availability: India

The Samsung Galaxy Fold will be available for ₹1,64,999 ($2,320) in India — whether this is justified or not depends on how you perceive luxury products should be priced. Pre-bookings for the device open on October 4, 2019, on Samsung’s official online store, and deliveries begin on October 20, 2019. Samsung is also providing Galaxy Fold Premier Service, which comes with a dedicated helpline at 1800-20-7267864 that will have customer care executives on call 24×7. There is also one year of Infinity Flex Display Protection, which will include accidental damage coverage with “one-time protection”, allowing customers who do end up accidentally damaging their phone’s display to get it repaired for a discounted fee of ₹10,500 ($148).
