OnePlus 8 (yes really) leaks with a punch hole display and triple cameras

The OnePlus 7T was officially unveiled last week and it’s going on sale in the US on October 18th. Even though the OnePlus 7T is not available for purchase yet in the U.S. or Europe, we’re already getting a look at the next OnePlus phone. Infamous leaker @OnLeaks has shared renders of the OnePlus 8.

These renders of the OnePlus 8 were created based on detailed schematics disclosed by a company insider rather than factory CAD files as is @OnLeaks’ forte. That means there is some wiggle room for the final design, but the overall design has probably already been determined. One of the most prominent new design features is the punch-hole display. This is the first OnePlus device that will feature this design element. The punch-hole is located in the top left corner, like many phones from Huawei/Honor.

The OnePlus 8 will also differ greatly from the OnePlus 7T in the camera bump. The render depicts triple cameras arranged in a vertical line centered on the back, rather than the round camera module found on the 7T. Wireless charging is also said to be coming in this model, which would be a first for OnePlus. In the past, OnePlus has pointed to slow charging speeds as the reason they haven’t included it in earlier phones. The Mi 9 Pro 5G already features 30W wireless charging, and it seems that wireless charging will only get faster in the future.

The display is said to be 6.5-inches and will be the first non-Pro model with a curved display. The overall dimensions are roughly 160.2 x 72.9 x 8.1mm (9.3mm including camera bump). That’s all we know about the OnePlus 8 right now, which is still quite a lot considering where we are in the release cycle. If this is any indication, we should learn much more before the official launch.
