Possible Google Pixel 4 shows up on the FCC, wireless charging and LTE bands revealed

We’re getting closer to the launch of the Pixel 4 this Fall and we may have just passed a major milestone on that journey. Six Google device models have shown up on the FCC and it’s likely they are the Pixel 4 series. The FCC IDs are G020I, G020M, G020N, G020P, G020Q, and G020J, which are very similar to the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL FCC listings.

The big difference between these new listings, and the reason why we’re likely looking at the Pixel 4, is the 60GHz (58-63.5GHz) transmitter. We know that this includes the range used by Project Soli, which was rumored and later confirmed to be a feature of the Pixel 4 series. Soli is the tech behind the Pixel 4’s Air Gestures and face recognition features. The transmitter is approved on all 6 devices, but we’re still not sure if Soli gestures will be available in all regions.

We can also glean a few more details from the FCC listings. Wireless charging is present, as we can see in one diagram. The LTE bands have also been revealed (2, 4, 5, 7, 12, 13, 14, 17, 25, 26, 30, 38, 41, 48, 66, 71), as well as GSM and CDMA support. If you’re curious why they are six different device listings, this has to do with the two models (Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL), as well as carrier variants. The devices support slightly different LTE bands.

When devices pass through the FCC it’s a sign that an announcement is close at hand. Google hasn’t been very secretive about the Pixel 4 launch, so that should come as no surprise. All will be revealed soon.
