OnePlus TV has a 55-inch QLED 4K display and 8 speakers in a movable soundbar for a price of ₹99,900 ($1410)

OnePlus has established itself as a premium brand across the world and India has been instrumental in this growth. In India, OnePlus is the leading premium smartphone brand and now, it is entering another segment of premium products. After weeks of teasing, OnePlus has today announced its new lineup of Android TVs, namely OnePlus TV 55 Q1 and the OnePlus TV 55 Q1 Pro and India is the first market where these TVs will be available. OnePlus is calling these TVs “flagship smart TVs” and claims that they will redefine users’ TV watching experience.

As the name suggests, the OnePlus TV duo features a 55-inch panel. To stay ahead of the competitors, OnePlus is using a QLED-backlit Vertical Alignment (VA) panel which offers higher contrast and better color saturation over LED-backlit LCD panels in the so-called affordable LED TVs. To complement the striking display, OnePlus is using a blend of metal, sturdy plastic, and carbon fiber layer for a premium appearance of the TVs.

At the heart of the OnePlus TV duo is a MediaTek MT5670, which has a quad-core CPU with each of the Cortex A53 cores having a clock speed of 1.5GHz.

The OnePlus TV 55 Q1 Pro comes with a movable soundbar with eight speakers including four full-range speakers, two subwoofers, and two tweeters.  All of these speakers combine to output sound at 50W. The non-Pro variant, on the other hand, features only four speakers which are fixed in their position.

In terms of software, the OnePlus runs Android TV with Android 9 Pie. Besides the standard Android TV interface, the TV rocks OxygenPlay which is being hailed as the one-stop destination for content. This UI is similar to Xiaomi’s Patchwall and recommends users content from apps such as Hungama Play, Zee5, and ErosNow.

OnePlus has worked on providing an excellent experience with the remote controller. The remote bundled with the OnePus TV shark with its silver and black colors. It comes with a direction pad, dedicated controls for Home, OxygenPlay, and Prime Video. The volume pas has been replaced by a volume rocker similar to the ones on smartphones. To make the deal even more exciting, the remote does not require external batteries and comes with a rechargeable battery which can be charged using the USB-C port on the bottom of the remote.

To allow users to get rid of the remote completely, OnePlus has also introduced the OnePlus TV Connect app which lets you control the TV over Wi-Fi using your Android smartphone.
