On Thursday, Huawei will unveil the Mate 30 series at an event in Munich, Germany. As the #2 smartphone maker, Huawei commands a lot of attention in the industry. On the surface, the launch event on Thursday will look like a typical hardware launch event, except for the fact that the main product on display might not launch with Google Play apps and services. We’ll be watching intently to find out what Huawei has planned for its Mate 30 launch, but the company isn’t just going to launch 3 new smartphones. We’ve heard rumors that the company will refresh the Huawei Watch GT this year, and a thorough leak from AndroidHeadlines not only corroborates that rumor but also reveals the existence of a new Huawei Band fitness tracker and a Huawei TV. Thanks to this leak, we know a lot about what will happen on Thursday.
Huawei Watch GT 2

The first product on our list to discuss is the Huawei Watch GT 2, rumored to be Huawei’s latest premium smartwatch. Huawei announced the first Watch GT during the Mate 20 launch event last year, so it makes sense for the company to follow-up with a new smartwatch at the Mate 30 launch. The first Watch GT launched without Wear OS and compared to its main competitor, the Samsung Galaxy Watch, its software is a lot simpler. Only recently did the Watch GT get support for custom watch faces, whereas the Galaxy Watch can be overwhelming with its customization options. That doesn’t necessarily mean the Watch GT is inferior since there’s not a whole lot you need to do on a smartwatch, but we’re hoping the Huawei Watch GT 2 adds more software features to compete with Samsung.
The Huawei Watch GT 2 will reportedly come in two sizes: 42mm with a 1.2-inch 390×390 AMOLED display or 46mm with a 1.39-inch 454×454 AMOLED display. The smaller model measures 41.8 x 41.8 x 9.4mm and comes with a 20mm strap while the larger model measures 45.9 x 45.9 x 10.7mm and comes with a 22mm strap. The first generation Watch GT also had a 1.39-inch AMOLED display with a 454×454 resolution, so the main change is the inclusion of a smaller variant.
AndroidHeadlines reports that the smaller model won’t have a microphone, which also suggests that LTE connectivity won’t be available. However, they don’t know if the larger one has a microphone, so they also can’t speak about whether the larger model supports LTE.
Otherwise, both sizes sport the same hardware. That means both watches have the new Kirin A1 chip with Bluetooth 5.1/5.1 LE support, GPS, gyroscope, geomagnetic sensor, barometric sensor, and an optical heart rate sensor. Lastly, both smartwatches are rated for 5ATM of pressure underwater with protection of up to 50 meters. WinFuture reports that the Watch GT 2 (likely the larger model) has a 445mAh battery, up from 420mAh on the first generation Watch GT. Interestingly, WinFuture claims that the Watch GT 2 has a speaker and a microphone, so it’s possible that at least the larger model has these features.

New Huawei Band
Apart from selling premium smartwatches, Huawei also makes more affordable fitness trackers. We recently reviewed the Honor Band 5 from Huawei’s Honor sub-brand, and it’s a quality smart band for a cheap price. Last year, Huawei launched the Huawei Band 3 Pro at the Mate 20 launch event, and this year it looks like they’re following up with a new Huawei Band at the Mate 30 launch event.
We don’t know if this new fitness tracker will be called the Huawei Band 4, Huawei Band 4 Pro, or something else entirely, but according to AndroidHeadlines it’ll have sensors for heart rate and oxygen saturation (SpO2). We can also see where the USB connector is located for charging, but AndroidHeadlines is unable to confirm if the straps are replaceable. The Huawei Band 3 Pro had a 0.95-inch AMOLED touchscreen and lasted for up to 20 days of normal use, so we expect the Huawei Band 4 (or whatever it’s called) to have a display and battery life at least as good as its predecessor.
Huawei TV with Harmony OS
Huawei created a lot of buzz last month when they unveiled Harmony OS, its microkernel-based operating system with a “distributed design.” The first product running Harmony OS is the Honor Vision smart TV, and it’s already gone on sale in China. Now, Huawei will reportedly unveil a television under its own brand name called the Huawei TV. Like the Pro version of the Honor Vision TV, the Huawei TV will run on Harmony OS and will have a pop-up camera. AndroidHeadlines sadly did not have any specifications to share, especially regarding screen size or pricing. A leaked posted shared on Weibo reveals the TV will support Huawei Share and “Huawei Sound,” which likely refers to the large speakers on the bottom.
We’re interested in seeing where Huawei will launch this product. Just recently, Xiaomi and Motorola announced new televisions in India, while OnePlus is preparing to launch its own TV in the country.
Huawei MediaPad M6 Global Launch
Finding an Android tablet with flagship-tier specifications is easy because right now there’s literally only the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 to consider. If you live in China, you can pick up the Huawei MediaPad M6 tablet with a Kirin 980 SoC in either a 10.8-inch or 8.4-inch variant. AndroidHeadlines believes that Huawei will show off the MediaPad M6 at the Mate 30 launch, but more importantly, they’ll announce global availability. Like the Huawei Mate 30, however, the Huawei MediaPad M6 might not ship with Google Play apps and services pre-installed.
New Leather Case for the Porsche Design Huawei Mate 30
Lastly, AndroidHeadlines obtained a render showing the Huawei Mate 30 Porsche Design with a leather strap case. This will be useful for carrying the phone or used as a kickstand.
We saw renders of this case a few days ago when we also saw plenty of renders of the entire Mate 30 family. The latest leaks show the Mate 30 Pro will have dual 40MP main cameras, the Kirin 990 processor, a 4500mAh battery with 40W wired charging and 27W fast wireless charging, and EMUI 10 based on Android 10. The Mate 30 Pro sounds like an incredible phone that’ll continue Huawei’s dominance in smartphone camera hardware, but its success hinges on how Huawei deals with the U.S. trade ban.
