How to get Google Play Services on the Huawei Mate 30 Pro [Video]

The Huawei Mate 30 Pro was officially unveiled last week and there are a number of unusual things about it. First off, it has a very dramatic curved display, which may be off-putting to some people. We already showed you how you can artificially “remove” the curved edges. The next big thing is the lack of Google Play services due to Huawei having their Android license revoked. The good news is there’s a way around that, too.

XDA TV‘s TK Bay recently published a video about getting Google Play Services on the Huawei Mate 30 Pro as well as the Honor 9X Pro. Normal sideloading doesn’t work in this situation, but there is a 3rd-party app that makes the process easy. First, you need to download the APK from here (the page is in Chinese). Note that this is not an official app and it can be sideloaded like normal.

You will be asked to accept the terms of service and give the app device administrator access. A Huawei ID is also required to proceed (or you need a SIM card in the device). After that, you’ll see a list in Chinese with a blue button at the bottom. This is all of the software associated with Google Play Services. Tap the blue button to install.

When all of the Google Play Services pieces are installed, you can revoke device administrator access and uninstall the first app. Check out TK’s video below to see the step-by-step process for the Huawei Mate 30 and Honor 9X Pro in action.
