As famed lyricist and musician DJ Khaled once wisely said: “Anotha one.” The Pixel 4 leaks are coming in hot and heavy right now. We’ve seen the devices pass through the FCC, show up on Best Buy’s website, leak in all three colors, and, most recently, an official-looking promo video was discovered. The next rumor is a feature that will allow Google Assistant to take over calls when you’re put on hold.
According to a source at 9t05Google, Google Assistant on the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL will include a new feature to help out when you’re put on hold. The feature works like this: when you’re put on hold and there is music playing in the background, you can tap a button to tell Assistant you’re on hold. Then, when Assistant detects there is a person on the other end, it will notify you to get back on the call.

We’ve all been in the situation where you’re on hold for a long time so you put the phone down and do something else. Even if you put the call on speaker and crank up the volume, it’s easy to get distracted and miss when the person on the other end comes back. If Google Assistant did something to grab your attention more noticeably, it would be a big help.
The report goes on to say that this feature is still in early development. They’re confident it will eventually come to the Pixel 4, but it probably won’t be available on launch day. This would be similar to how the Google Assistant “Call Screen” feature was announced and later rolled out to the Pixel 3. We also expect the hold feature to roll out to older Google Pixel devices later on. Is this something you would find useful?
