The Samsung Galaxy S10 series brought over the punch hole camera cutout to Samsung’s flagship lineup. Reaction to these display holes has been rather polarizing — some people want to hide it by using creative wallpapers in a way that the hole blends in and no longer remains distinctly visible; others want to use it as a way to show off Samsung’s precision-cut within the display, using apps like Energy Ring to turn the area around the display hole into a battery indicator. Now, Energy Ring has gained support for Samsung’s newest flagships, the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and the Samsung Galaxy Note 10+.
The idea behind Energy Ring is to utilize the space around the display hole in a creative and non-obtrusive manner, one that makes your device stand out. Energy Ring was originally made available for the Samsung Galaxy S10‘s offset singular camera hole, but the app subsequently gained support for the Samsung Galaxy S10+‘s wider camera cutout (because of the double front-facing cameras). The developer behind the app has released a new app on the same concepts, but with support for the singular centered camera cutout as found on the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ and the 5G variant.
Energy Ring comes with a few customizations, such as configuring the width of the pixel area to be used around the camera lens, configuring the direction of depletion from clockwise, anti-clockwise and bi-directional, changing colors on the basis of battery level, and more. There are a few features, such as the gradient color choices, which are available to paid users, but there is enough in store to keep free users satisfied. The app also claims to put negligible load on the phone’s CPU.
