You can now listen to Google Podcasts episodes in Search results

There are many ways people get their news to stay in the loop of what is happening around them. Some people prefer to read, some prefer to watch video, and some people just prefer to listen, either by listening to radio shows or downloading/streaming podcasts. As of currently, there are over 2 million podcasts available on the Internet, and with the plethora of podcasting services like Google Podcasts, the number keeps growing. Google wants to double down on their own podcast streaming service by integrating it with their Search browser.

Now, when you search for a podcast about a specific topic on Google, the browser will also return links to podcasts directly alongside your normal search results, and will also give you the ability to stream them directly from the browser page. This functionality will be available from both the desktop site as well as the mobile app for English users in the United States as of now.

Google also says that they’re working on extending this functionality over to other parts of the Google ecosystem, such as the Google Assistant and the Google Podcasts desktop website, as well as adding the ability to search for subscription-only podcasts too. They also claim that they’re working on making this feature smarter in the long run, eventually not needing to input the word “podcast” to make podcasts show up. Right now, though, this should make podcast searching much easier for users.

This feature will be available starting today on both desktop and mobile interfaces. Do you think it will come in handy? Let us know in the comments.
