Xiaomi recently broke apart their Redmi branding as a sub-brand of its own, which has allowed them to branch out and become much more competitive. Previous to this, the Redmi branding served exclusively as Xiaomi’s budget range, but with the introduction of the Redmi K20 and the Redmi K20 Pro, this was no longer the case. Now the device is launching again as the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro.
Powered by the Snapdragon 730 and the Snapdragon 855 respectively, and with a respectable set of features, these smartphones are playing into upper mid-range/budget flagship territory, previously uncharted territory for a Redmi smartphone. The Redmi K20 was eventually launched outside of China and India as the Xiaomi Mi 9T, but not the Redmi K20 Pro, leaving users to think whether Xiaomi was actually planning to launch it internationally.
After a brief wait, the Redmi K20 Pro is now launching in Europe and other international markets as the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro, Xiaomi’s latest budget flagship.
The Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro is identical to the Redmi K20 Pro and, in turn, serves as a higher-end version of the Xiaomi Mi 9T. Instead of the Snapdragon 730 system-on-chip that comes aboard the Mi 9T, the Mi 9T Pro instead goes for the flagship-grade Snapdragon 855 processor, which is, in turn, the latest and greatest from Qualcomm. It also comes with up to 6GB of RAM and 64/128GB of storage, as well as a juicy 4,000 mAh battery. The device also features a full-screen design with a 19.5:9 display, small bezels without a notch, an in-display fingerprint scanner and a pop-up 20MP front-facing camera module. The only difference here is the branding: the Redmi branding is switched up for regular Xiaomi branding.
Camera needs are also served by a triple 48MP rear camera setup, pretty similar to the one found in the regular Mi 9T, except it switches up the IMX582 sensor for the more popular IMX586 sensor, the same one used in a handful of Xiaomi devices such as the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 and the Xiaomi Mi 9. We also have the same wide-angle and telephoto sensors as the regular Xiaomi Mi 9T. The device is running Android 9 Pie with Xiaomi’s MIUI 10 customization skin on top.
We recently reviewed the Redmi K20 Pro, and we’ve found it to be an outstanding “flagship killer” from Xiaomi, as well as one of the most interesting devices from the company in recent times. This is the same exact device with the exact same feature set, so European users will surely be having a good time with it.

The Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro is now available in European markets starting today on Amazon and official Xiaomi stores, with the base 6/64 model costing €399. The higher-end model with 128GB of storage will be setting you back €449. The device is available in the same 3 color options as the Redmi K20 Pro, including Glacier Blue, Carbon Black, and Red Flame.
