After months of leaks and rumors, Samsung has finally unveiled the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+. We’ve seen renders of the phone for months, heard rumors of the features, and even heard about the hardware. None of that was officially confirmed by Samsung, of course, until today.
Unlike every other year of Galaxy Note launches, there are now 2 different Note models, each with an LTE and 5G version. These devices have the basics in common: in-display ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, SuperFast charging, the upgraded Bluetooth S Pen, a dynamic AMOLED display, and no headphone jack. The differences between these devices are the display size, battery size, and micro SD card.

The phones of course launch with the latest version of Android, Android Pie, with Samsung’s One UI layered on top of it. Unlike the previous generation of Samsung phones, these don’t have a Bixby button. Instead, the power button is now moved to the left side of the phone under the volume rocker. This power button works as both a Bixby button and power button with the power menu moved to the Quick Settings panel. It does still have Bixby, though, and holding down on the power button will summon Bixby 2.0 to the front.

These specs are some of the more powerful specs we’ve seen this year, but nothing too surprising. This time around we get a curved 6.3-inch display on the Galaxy Note 10, which is a similar size and display to what we found on the Galaxy S10+; but instead of QHD+, this is FHD+. The Galaxy Note 10+ has a huge 6.8-inch display which comes in at a QHD+ resolution. Both of these displays are Dynamic AMOLED displays.
Samsung did announce a Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10+ 5G
The processors that Samsung use in both devices are the Exynos 9825 and Snapdragon 855. At this point, the Snapdragon 855 is generally known as the fastest Android chip. Samsung aims to change that with the Exynos 9825. It’s the first chip in the world with the 7nm EUV lithography. This should allow for better efficiency and better performance. Besides the speeds, the Exynos 9825 is pretty similar to the Exynos 9820. The GPU, NPU, and ISP are the same across the two Exynos SOC.
As for storage this time, Samsung has decided to upgrade its storage to UFS 3.0. The Galaxy Note 10 has a single storage capacity of 256GB while the Galaxy Note 10+ has two storage capacities, 256GB and 512GB. Sadly, only the larger Note 10+ supports a MicroSD card slot. The SD card slot supports up to 1TB meaning you could have a total of 1.5TBs of storage in your phone.
As for battery capacity, Samsung isn’t skimping out on either device. The Samsung Galaxy Note 10 will have a 3500 mAh battery while the Note 10+ will have a 4300 mAh battery. Both of these will support Samsung SuperFast Charging, which will let the phones have very fast charging speeds, while the decently sized batteries will let them have long battery life. Both devices also support the new Wireless PowerShare feature from Samsung. This updated PowerShare supports speeds up to 15W. It will charge devices quicker than before, but it will also drain your battery quicker.
Samsung went for the same route of biometrics for the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10+ as they did for the Galaxy S10 series. Both the devices have an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner from Qualcomm. They also support facial recognition through the front-facing camera. This isn’t the 3D facial scanning that we have in devices like the Huawei Mate 20 Pro and LG G8, but it’s still facial recognition. Unlike the fingerprint scanner, facial recognition can not be used to authenticate fingerprints.
As for the S Pen, this year’s S Pen has a 6-axis gyroscope and accelerometer, both of which are used for enabling Air Gestures. You will be able to wave your S Pen around in the air like you would a magic wand. Twisting and turning the pen can zoom your camera or change the volume. In addition to Air Gestures, you will also have the Bluetooth controls introduced last year. You can wirelessly play and pause music along with using the pen as a camera shutter.
The Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10+ are going to come in Aura Glow, Aura Black, Aura White, Aura Blue, and Aura Red colors. These colors will vary depending on regions. Unlike the Galaxy S10, there will be no ceramic backed device. There will only be the glass in the previously mentioned colors.
Samsung is also following the trend of most other major OEMs and removing the headphone jack, unfortunately. Instead, you are supposed to use either the Bluetooth Galaxy Buds or the active noise canceling USB Type-C AKG earbuds that come in the box. Samsung has also included a USB-C to 3.5mm adapter in the box.
Cameras
Samsung used to call the Galaxy S10’s camera system its best camera set up yet. The S10 has a 16MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a 12MP wide-angle lens, and a 12MP telephoto lens. With the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10+, they keep that same set up with a few minor differences.
The first difference between the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Note 10/Note 10+ camera is the telephoto lens. The aperture has changed from an f/2.4 to an f/2.1. This should allow more light into the lens and, hopefully, allow for better and sharper photos.
The front-facing camera is changing a bit as well. It keeps the 10MP resolution of the Galaxy S10 but changes the aperture from f/1.9 to f/2.2. This was likely to be able to fit it into the display and shrink the hole by a small margin.
The one thing the Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ has that the Note 10 does not is the Time-of-Flight “DepthVision” camera on the back of the device. You can get super accurate measurements through Samsung’s measuring app or Live Focus video for bokeh video.
The video mode also has a bunch of new features. There is a new precision audio recording feature that allows for 3 stage “audio zoom” that takes advantage of the three microphones on the phone.
Software
The software on the Note 10 is largely the same as the Galaxy S10. It is running the same base of Android 9 Pie with One UI layered on top. There aren’t many new system features in this phone that the Galaxy S10 doesn’t have. As expected, most software differences revolve around the S Pen.
A new camera feature Samsung is introducing for the Note 10 is “face drawing.” It lets you use the S Pen and camera while holding the phone up to someone’s face and draw specifically on their face. It will track their face and keep the drawings there. This feature is admittedly weird and I’m not sure why anyone would use it, but it’s there.

Samsung did their usual tricks this year with the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10+. The phone will launch with a new wireless charging stand, a few of the usual cases, and a new color of Galaxy Buds.
The new wireless charger is a vertical charger that looks quite like the Pixel Stand. It supports Fast Wireless Charge 2.0 for fast wireless charging, and is powered through a USB Type-C port. It comes in black and white color options.
Samsung also has a large selection of cases. These include cover cases, standing cases, and silicone cases. The cover case comes with a display built into the case. This allows for you to see the time, your notifications, and battery status. The cover case comes in blue, red, pink, black, silver, and white.
