In a bit of a pleasant surprise, OnePlus has rolled out the August 2019 security patches for its latest flagship, the OnePlus 7 Pro with the newest OxygenOS 9.5.11 update. The surprising bit is that not only is the OnePlus 7 Pro on the latest security patch with this new update, but the security bulletin for the patch has not even been announced yet! The OnePlus 7 Pro thus beats the likes of the Google Pixel and the Essential Phone PH-1 to become the first phone on this security patch, though it will not remain the only phone on this new patch for too long.
The update OTA will see a staged rollout, just like all updates prior to this. The OTA will be received by a limited number of users, and a broader rollout is expected over the next few days once it is determined that there are no critical bugs in the update.
If you can’t wait for the update to arrive on your OnePlus 7 Pro, you can sideload the update manually. You can download the relevant files for the update through the links below. Ensure that you download the file relevant to your region.
For GM21AA software regions:
Incremental OTA from OxygenOS 9.5.10 to OxygenOS 9.5.11 | Full OTA for OxygenOS 9.5.11
For GM21BA software region:
Incremental OTA from OxygenOS 9.5.10 to OxygenOS 9.5.11 | Full OTA for OxygenOS 9.5.11
Previous updates to the OnePlus 7 Pro have fixed in various issues that early adopters had with the device. The team behind OnePlus has also been receptive about the shortcomings of the device, as we found out in our recent interaction with them at their Camera Lab in Taiwan. Hopefully, the team keeps up their pace of work and brings in some more improvements to the device, especially in the camera department.
