Motorola Moto E6 Plus leak shows off the budget phone’s design. Here are some of its specifications.

Earlier today, we unveiled many details of Motorola’s next “premium” mid-range smartphone, the Motorola One Zoom/One Pro. Over the weekend, live images for another Motorola smartphone were leaked, courtesy of Roland Quandt. The images were from an alleged AliExpress listing for the upcoming budget smartphone, the Motorola Moto E6 Plus. Here’s what we know so far.

Moto E6 Plus Design

The images show a device with a U-shape notched display like the Motorola Moto Z4 and the upcoming Motorola One Zoom. The display is flat but has rounded corners. Like the Motorola One Zoom, the Moto E6 Plus has an earpiece speaker above the notch and a single front-facing camera housed within the notch area. The bottom bezel appears large when compared to most modern mid-range and flagship smartphones sold in markets like India or China, but it’s competitive with designs found on other budget smartphones.

On the right side, we can see the phone’s power button and two volume buttons, but we can’t see the left, bottom, or top sides. We don’t know if the phone will have a USB Type-C port, but it’s unlikely to have one since the Moto E5 Plus and Moto E6 don’t have the newer port type. As for a 3.5mm headphone port, it’s likely the phone will have one given the port’s prevalence in budget and mid-range phones and the port’s existence in the Moto E5 Plus and Moto E6.

On the rear, we can see a depression for the Motorola logo in the center-top. This logo likely doubles as the physical fingerprint scanner, which isn’t present on the Moto E6 but is present on the Moto E5 Plus. To the left, we can see the dual rear camera module, an LED flash, and a noise-canceling microphone. The back cover seems to be glossy plastic, and we can see how reflective it is as the Aliexpress seller can be seen taking a picture of the device using what seems to be a Huawei Mate 20 Pro.

Moto E6 Plus Specifications

Unlike the regular Motorola Moto E6 which we had ample information for, our sources this time came up rather dry for the Moto E6 Plus. What we do know is that it’ll have an HD+ resolution (720×1560), eMMC storage (though we don’t know the exact storage capacities), Android 9 Pie with Motorola’s customizations (as can be seen in the images shown above), and will launch in Europe, Latin America, and Russia. We don’t know the pricing or launch date, but Motorola has an event planned at IFA in the coming weeks where we’ll likely find out more about this device. The regular Moto E6 starts at $149, so the Moto E6 Plus shouldn’t cost much higher than that—probably at or below $200.

We suspect the Motorola Moto E6 Plus will be powered by the MediaTek Helio P22, and this is corroborated by the numerous GeekBench listings for the phone code-named “poker+.” (We normally don’t look at GeekBench as a primary source given it can be tricked, but it’s useful for corroboration. We knew the phone’s code-name before it appeared on GeekBench, so most of these listings are likely legitimate.) If GeekBench is to be believed, then at least one model of the phone will have 2GB RAM. We think the main camera on the rear will be a 13MP sensor while the secondary rear camera will be a 2MP depth sensor. The front-facing camera may be an 8MP sensor.

The Moto E series doesn’t usually show up on our radar, but the nature of the leak this weekend drew our attention toward it. If we find more information about this upcoming budget smartphone, we’ll update this article.
