MIUI 10 betas end this month for all devices in preparation for MIUI 11

Xiaomi’s MIUI is a fun ROM to follow along, mainly because Xiaomi makes it a point to involve the community for testing out updates on a regular basis. Through MIUI Betas that roll out for a wide range of devices, we can spot new and exciting features that the company is working on, and users who try out these betas can experience the same before these features reach the stable branch. Sadly, Xiaomi did end MIUI Global Betas back in July 2019. Newer features that we have spotted recently, like Dark Mode Scheduling and Dual Wi-Fi acceleration, have been spotted on MIUI China Betas on MIUI 10. Now, Xiaomi is ending MIUI 10 Betas at the end of this month, in preparation of MIUI 11.

According to a forum announcement, MIUI 9.8.29 will be the last MIUI 10 China Beta that will be released for Xiaomi devices. From August 31, 2019, onwards, the MIUI team will focus on stability and optimizations, which indicates that the team could continue releasing MIUI 10 stable builds. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X and the Xiaomi Mi 8 will also no longer receive alpha builds; users are advised to switch over to other branches after a data wipe.

This does not mean that China Beta ROMs are being discontinued. It merely means that the next set of Betas will not be based on MIUI 10, indicating that we may see the release of MIUI 11 soon. Xiaomi’s Redmi sub-brand is holding an event on August 29, 2019, in China where they are expected to announce the Redmi Note 8 series. This lines up well with the above forum announcement, and we might just see the new phone launch alongside the new MIUI version. MIUI 11 is expected to bring along a lot of visual changes towards achieving system-wide consistency, as well as new features such as a monochrome ultra power saving mode, automatic screenshot management, and more. We hope to learn more in the coming week.
