HMD Global is a rather new addition to the smartphone community, but they have barely shown any signs of it. The company has been on top of things when it comes to security updates thanks, in part, to its choice to stick with an OEM ROM that is close to stock Android. HMD Global has also released a staggering number of smartphones since joining the Android smartphone market, but a lot of these are actually rebranded versions of previously released smartphones. This time a rebranded smartphone will be part of an exclusive partnership with Verizon under the Nokia 3 V name.
Those who have followed along with HMD Global and its release of Nokia-branded smartphones will likely find the press release below to be very familiar. That is because it’s actually a rebranded version of the Nokia 3.2 smartphone. We haven’t yet been given a full list of specs from HMD Global or Verizon Wireless (as of writing this), but the SoC, design, display, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, and dual rear-camera module all indicate that we’re looking at the Nokia 3.2 right here.
This is a smartphone that HMD Global launched earlier this year as part of the Android One program, and it’s quite competitive in supported markets thanks to the price point. The Nokia 3 V will be available this Friday (August 23rd) in select Verizon stores and on the Verizon Wireless website. The smartphone will retail for $168 and be available as part of a payment plan for $7 a month for 24 months. The highlighted features of the Nokia 3 V seem to be its affordable pricing, its big 6.26-inch HD+ display, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 429 SoC, and two-day battery life (presumably the same 4,000mAh battery as the Nokia 3.2).
