We’re merely a few hours away from the official announcement of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and Samsung Galaxy Note 10+, and Samsung has already taken the wraps off their newest Exynos SoC. Meet the new Exynos 9825, the mobile processor that will power Samsung’s newest flagship devices.

The Samsung Exynos 9825 is more of a refresh and slight improvement over the Exynos 9820 instead of a major generational upgrade. As such, most of the specifications are shared across both of the SoCs. The highlight of the Exynos 9825 SoC is that it is built on the 7nm LPP EUV (Extreme Ultraviolet Lithography) process, which is an improvement over the 8nm-based Exynos 9820. This will predominantly make the SoC more efficient instead of making it more powerful, so you can expect to see similar performance across Samsung flagships with these chips but slightly extended battery performance.
It remains to be seen how exactly the practical experience changes from the Exynos 9820 to the Exynos 9825. We have extensively tested and compared the Samsung Exynos 9820 against the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC on similar devices, and we found that the Snapdragon 855 reigned supreme in practically every scenario. The Exynos 9825 does not change a lot, so these results are likely to carry over and stay true. But that does not mean that the Exynos 9825 or the Exynos 9820 are poor performers — they just aren’t the best. That, however, does not take away our excitement for the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 series.
