EMUI 10 based on Android Q will start rolling out for the Huawei P30 series on September 8th

China’s largest technology company, Huawei, is holding its annual Developer Conference this week in the city of Dongguan. At the event, Huawei officially announced the latest version of its Android-based software called EMUI. EMUI 10.0 is based on Android 10 Q, which itself is still in beta phase. Nonetheless, Huawei is prepared to show the world what the Android Q update for its Huawei and Honor-branded smartphones will look like.

Earlier this week, Google rolled out the sixth and final Android Q beta for its Pixel smartphones. Since Google provides certain partners with early access to the Android 10 source code, some smartphone brands like Xiaomi and OnePlus have started customizing the next Android release with their own flavor. Huawei is no different in that regard, except the company’s only Android 10 beta release was basically EMUI 9 with Android Q framework changes under-the-hood. This week, we’re finally going to see what changes Huawei is making on top of Google’s Android Q.

During the keynote event, Huawei only talked about the system-wide dark mode that’s coming to EMUI 10, but there’s bound to be a lot of additional changes to Android Q that Huawei couldn’t fit into its announcement today. At the Huawei Developer Conference, Huawei did confirm that the Android Q release will start rolling out for the Huawei P30 series on September 8th, but that’s likely only for the Chinese models. Still, we now have a firm launch date for Huawei’s next Android release, and it’s likely to be near the launch date of Google’s stable Android Q for Pixel smartphones.

The Huawei Mate 30 series will launch with the new EMUI 10 and Android 10 on board, as Huawei confirmed during its keynote at HDC today.
