Asus has managed to cram in everything under the sun into a phone that checks out just about every box that an extreme power user would want from a phone. Asus has also provided a way to unlock the bootloader of the device, at the cost of warranty though; and also released the kernel sources for the phone. The company also provides for a way to use a more stock-Android-like ZenUI Classic on the device, in case you find the gaming-inspired ROG UI too overbearing.
