August 2019 security patches are out for Google Pixel phones and Essential Phone

Summer is beginning to wind down as we enter the month of August. Some people refer to this time as the “Dog Days of Summer,” but for us, it means new Android security updates. The patches for this month have been released for the Google Pixel family and the ever-reliable Essential Phone.

There aren’t many exciting functional patches for Google Pixel devices this month. The entire family is getting some Wi-Fi improvements, while the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL get sleep mode improvements. The August Android security update is available for the Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL, Pixel 3a, Pixel 3a XL, Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL, Pixel, Pixel XL, and Essential Phone. As mentioned last month, the Pixel C is no longer receiving security patch updates.
