YouTube Music adds seamless switching between songs and music videos

YouTube, perhaps unexpectedly, became one of the most popular places to find music online. Google is leveraging that power with YouTube Music, taking the platform from more than just videos. However, music videos are still a major part of YouTube Music and now it’s even easier to switch between the two formats.

Starting today, YouTube Premium and YouTube Music Premium subscribers can seamlessly switch between audio and video. There’s no pause or interruption as the stream smoothly transitions. This can be done with the new button at the top of the YouTube Music player: simply tap VIDEO or SONG.

YouTube has “time-matched” over five million official music videos to their audio tracks. If you don’t ever want to switch to video, you can turn off the button in the settings by toggling “Don’t play music videos.” The feature is rolling out for Premium users on both Android and iOS apps right now. Go forth and discover some great music videos for your favorite songs.
