[Update: Official] The 8″ Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2019) is coming with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 429

Update 1 (7/05/19 @ 06:15 AM ET): The 8″ Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2019) is now official and Samsung is offering 2 months of YouTube Premium and 3 months of Spotify for free with it.

Undeterred by the sliding demand for tablets worldwide, Samsung is moving forth and launching new tablets. The Korean giant launched the entertainment-centric Galaxy Tab S5e around MWC 2019 followed by a more affordable Galaxy Tab A 8″ with S-Pen support in March. Now, it appears to be preparing to launch another tablet with entry-level specifications, an 8-inch display with broad bezels, and Android Pie. While the tablet is yet to be launched, its listing on various platforms gives away to the “Galaxy Tab A” moniker.

The Galaxy Tab A (2019) was recently certified by the Bluetooth SIG and as per the inventory, we can see that the tablet has five models. Out of these, four with model number SM-T295, SM-T295C, SM-T295N, and SM-T297 come with LTE support while the SM-T290 is a Wi-Fi-only model. These four different LTE models are most likely to correspond to different regions. The certification also reveals that these Galaxy Tab A (2019) models will come with Bluetooth 4.2 support.

From among the above-listed models, SM-T295 has also been certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance and is expected to come with dual-band 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi. The submission also confirms that the tablet will feature Android 9 Pie.

Adding on to the information, this variant of the Galaxy Tab A (2019) i.e. SM-T295 is also verified by Google as an Android Enterprise Recommended device. The listing reaffirms that the tablet will sport Android 9 Pie and also reveals its specifications including an 8-inch display, 2GB RAM and 32GB storage. As expected from LTE support, the tablet will also allow users to make calls. It lacks a fingerprint scanner, NFC, or a rugged design from the Galaxy Tab Active series.

Besides Android Enterprise Solutions Directory, the tablet also appeared on the Google Play Console which discloses a little more information about the Galaxy Tab A (2019). From the Device Catalog, we learn that the tablet will be powered by a Snapdragon 429 mobile platform featuring four Cortex A53 cores clocked at up to 2.0GHz. The listing also informs us that the 8-inch display will have a resolution of 800×1280. Further, we don’t expect the tablet to sport S-Pen support. There’s a camera on the front and probably another on the back as well but we don’t know the specifications just yet.

The Galaxy Tab A (2019) is not commercially available yet so we don’t have any information about the price but a sub-$150 pricing makes sense as per the specifications.
