[Update: More Renders] Google Pixel 4 renders reveal giant square camera bump ~ XDA

Update 1 (7/20/19 @ 4:00 PM ET): Onleaks has shared more renders of the smaller Google Pixel 4 with a blog called iGeeksBlog.

Hot off of the heels of the Pixel 3a release, the first legit renders of the Pixel 4 are here thanks to the notorious OnLeaks. A generally reliable leaker, OnLeaks says that the renders “are based on early prototyping schematics.” As a result, these designs are subject to change. Having said that, the Google Pixel series usually launches sometime in October, making a complete redesign unlikely. According to the renders, we’re going to be seeing a glass back, a large camera bump, and maybe even another notch.

While we know next to nothing about the upcoming Google Pixel 4, there are a few safe assumptions that we can make based on these renders. For one, it looks like the headphone jack is not getting the resurrection that some may have hoped for. On top of that, there is no fingerprint sensor on the back, possibly meaning that one will instead be implemented in the display. The company could also theoretically opt for a 3D face unlock instead, which has started showing up in Android Q. On the front, we also see a centered earpiece at the top, which OnLeaks suggests may point to the presence of a notch. It’s also important to note that it would appear that Google is moving away from dual front-facing speakers.

Moving to the back, there’s not a whole lot to unpack other than the large square camera bump on the top left. Google has been known for having one of the best cameras in the game, entirely done with one single camera module. OnLeaks says that the Google Pixel 4 should have at least 2 cameras, and may possibly even have 3. On the side, Google’s signature of the power button above the volume rocker remains intact. We don’t know anything about the Google Pixel 4 internals just yet, though it’s a given that it will have the latest Qualcomm chipset in order to compete with other flagships.

Update 1: More Google Pixel 4 Renders

OnLeaks has shared 3D CAD renders with iGeeksBlog. They’re pretty high-quality renders showing off all angles of the Google Pixel 4. iGeeksBlog claims that the device has a 5.6-inch screen and measures approximately 147.0 x 68.9 x 8.2 mm sans camera bump (9.3mm in thickness including the camera bump.) The renders show that Google won’t include a notched display on the standard Pixel 4, instead packing a ton of hardware into that large forehead. We still don’t know exactly what’s going into that forehead, but rumors have it there will be a Soli radar for gestures and a TOF camera for facial recognition.
