Samsung Galaxy A50 gets Night mode and Super Slow Motion in latest update

Samsung has lately been delivering regular software updates to its smartphones with a fueled vigor. Besides investing time and resources in rolling out One UI based on Android Pie to older devices, the company has also been improving upon the performance of newly launched devices. The Galaxy A50, which was among the earliest devices in Samsung’s revitalized Galaxy A series, has received several OTA updates since its launch in February this year and is now getting new improvements to the camera with the newest update.

The Galaxy A50’s latest update brings Night mode in the camera. This Night mode recently evolved from the Bright Sight feature in the Samsung camera app and was added as a separate option in the Galaxy S10 series. Over the last couple of months, the feature has been made its way to the Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy Note 9. Unlike Bright Sight, which could only be toggled automatically, the new Night mode feature adds a manual toggle for long-exposure shots in low-light.

Notably, the Night mode and the Super Slow-mo features will not be available instantly after the update and you’ll have to reset the settings of the Camera app once in order to be able to see them.

Besides the Night photography feature, the Galaxy A50 update brings Super Slow motion video capture. This mode records slo-mo videos at a higher frame rate compared to the other, dedicated Slow Motion feature. Additionally, the update brings a “Steady mode” for stabilized video recording.

Alongside these features in the camera, the latest update for Galaxy A50 brings the Google security patches from June 2019. It also improves the Knox Guard feature on enterprise devices.

The latest update is currently available in India and should roll out to other countries soon. Meanwhile, the Night mode and the Super Slow-mo modes are limited to Samsung’s flagships and with their availability on the mid-range smartphone Galaxy A50, we may expect to see them on the Galaxy A30 and the Galaxy A70 next.
