The premium OnePlus 7 Pro elevated the image of OnePlus in our eyes during our review with all its richness and refreshing beauty. While the OnePlus 7 Pro attracted most of the attention from media and tech enthusiast, we cannot deny that the OnePlus 7 (non-Pro) is also a great device, even if it doesn’t feel as exciting as the Pro variant. The OnePlus 7 Pro comes with up to 12GB of RAM to complement the Snapdragon 855 process while the regular variant only has 6GB and 8GB variants in most markets where it is available.
Curiously, OnePlus is also selling a 12GB variant of the OnePlus 7 in its home country, China. We were as surprised as you might be after reading this but OnePlus has listed the 12GB variant of the smartphone on its online store. The variant is also available for sale via Chinese e-commerce website Jingdong (JD.com) it comes with no other option aside from the 256GB storage.
The OnePlus 7 was launched in the Mirror Grey and Red colors while the Blue Mirror finish was launched earlier this month. The 12GB variant is seemingly only available in the gray variant. Interestingly, the 6GB model is not listed for sale in China.
We’re not exactly sure what compels OnePlus to keep the model limited to China and would appreciate if it was brought to other markets. In terms of pricing, the 8GB variant is priced at CNY 2,999 (~$435) while the 12GB variant comes for CNY 3,499 (~$510). Clearly, these prices may not correspond to prices in other markets but I do feel that most users looking for a conventional design, ease of use, and practicality won’t mind paying nearly $75 (or even a little extra) to enjoy the extra bit of power, especially since they need to spend at least CNY 4,999 (~$725) to buy the most affordable OnePlus 7 Pro.
