Xiaomi’s Redmi recently managed to pull the spotlight towards itself once again with the launch of the Redmi K20 and the Redmi K20 Pro. The two smartphones put up an exciting show in terms of the specifications and a premium design for their prices. Ever since these devices were launched in China, many enthusiasts have been wished for Xiaomi to launch them outside of China and the wish was partially granted with the launch of the Redmi K20 in European markets as the Xiaomi Mi 9T. Meanwhile, the Redmi K20 Pro is clearly the more appealing package because of its higher processing power, which also awards it the flagship status, and a greater share of users have pegged their hopes for its global launch.
Several sources appear to confirm earlier speculations about the Redmi K20 Pro launching globally and being called the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro in the western markets. From among the pieces of evidence we have, there is a couple of gallant claims by the Yu Man, the general manager of Xiaomi’s business in Russia. Not once but twice has the executive confirmed to curious users that the Mi 9T Pro will be coming to Russia soon, even though he refrained from mentioning an exact timeline for launch.
Besides the Russian chief, one of Xiaomi’s managers in Poland have confirmed to GSMOnline.pl that the Mi 9T Pro shall not arrive in Poland for the next few months. However, the device should be available in the country after the summer.

Adding to the information from these sources, XDA Member kackskrz has spotted instances of the Mi 9T Pro branding in the MIUI Camera app. The developer has found watermarks corresponding to three different variants of the Redmi K20 Pro. Of these variants, the codename “raphael” denotes the Chinese variant whereas “raphaelin” and “raphael_global” reflect the Indian as well the global variants of the K20 Pro. We had spotted the codenames “raphael” and “raphaelin“ associated with one of the two unknown Xiaomi devices more than a month before the official Redmi K20 launch.
While the existence of codenames confirms Indian and global variants of the Redmi K20 Pro are coming soon, the corresponding watermarks also validate the branding of the Mi 9T Pro for markets other than China and India.
As for the launch of the Redmi K20 Pro outside of China, we know that the launch in India is imminent. Xiaomi India’s MD, Manu Kumar Jain has confirmed that the Redmi K20 and K20 Pro will be coming to India by the first half of July. We expect that the smartphone’s success in India will determine the time of the global launch of the smartphone. Until further information, we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed.
